จากกลุ่มคนที่ทรงความรู้หลากหลายสาขาอาชีพ มีทั้งแพทย์ วิศวกร สถาปนิก นักวิชาการรวมทั้งคอลัมนิสต์นิตยสาร เครื่องเสียงมารวมตัวกัน โดยกลุ่มคนดังกล่าวต่างมีใจรักในเรื่องเครื่องเสียงชื่อดังเหมือนกัน มีการศึกษาอย่างมีวิชาการ เจาะลึกไปถึงเบื้องหลังการออกแบบอุปกรณ์เครื่องเสียงเหมือนกัน และต่างก็มีความเชื่อร่วมกัน ว่าสามารถออกแบบและผลิตลำโพงที่ให้คุณภาพเสียงได้ทัดเทียม หรือเหนือกว่าลำโพงไฮเอ็นด์ที่มีอยู่ในท้องตลาดในขณะนั้น
เริ่มจากการนำลำโพงชุดคิทของ KEF จากประเทศอังกฤษเข้ามาบริการ สมาชิกนิตยสารออดิโอ วิชั่น ในช่วงปี 2525 (ยุคนั้น KEF มีชื่อเสียงมากในแง่เป็นผู้ผลิตไดรฟ์ยูนิต ให้กับ BBC โดยเฉพาะลำโพงรุ่น LS3/5A) ซึ่งชุดลำโพงดังกล่าว ได้รับการยอมรับจากนักฟัง นักเล่นอย่างมากมาย จุดประกายให้กลุ่มคนดังกล่าวเริ่มสรรหาไดรฟ์ยูนิตที่มีใช้อยู่ในลำโพงระดับไฮเอ็นด์ในขณะนั้นมาทดลองกันมากขึ้นไปอีก
นั่นทำให้มีประสบการณ์กับ KEF, AUDAX, SEAS, PEERLESS, DYNAUDIO แบ่งปันสิ่งที่ได้เรียนรู้กัน โดยออกมาเป็นโครงงานประกอบลำโพงลงในนิตยสารออดิโอวิชั่น นิตยสารสเตอริโอ และเซมิคอนดัคเตอร์อิเลคทรอนิกส์ ซึ่งก็ประสบความสำเร็จได้รับการตอบรับจากนักเล่นอย่างกว้างขวาง
ในที่สุดเมื่อลำโพงที่ออกแบบขึ้นโดยกลุ่มคนเหล่านี้ได้รับความนิยมจากนักเล่นทั่วไปมากขึ้น จนยากที่จะให้บริการได้อย่างทั่วถึง และเกินกว่าจะทำเป็นบริการเสริมสำหรับสมาชิกหนังสืออีกต่อไป “หจก.ออดิโอ คอนซันแตนท์” จึงถือกำเนิดขึ้นอย่างเป็นทางการในเดือนสิงหาคม ปี พ.ศ. 2527 นำทีมโดยของคุณนภดล บุญบันดาล
ทีมงานของทางออดิโอคอนซัลแตนท์ ได้มีพัฒนาการในการออกแบบลำโพงอย่างต่อเนื่องมีโอกาสร่วมงานวิจัย และร่วมออกแบบไดรฟ์ยูนิตกับบริษัทที่ผลิตไดรฟ์ยูนิต ให้กับบริษัทผลิตลำโพงระดับไฮเอ็นด์หลาย ๆ แบรนด์ทั้ง Davis Acoustics จนมาถึง Eton, Vifa และ Scan Speak เพื่อให้ได้ไดรฟ์ยูนิตที่มีค่าพารามิเตอร์ที่เหมาะสมสำหรับลำโพงระดับไฮเอ็นด์อย่างแท้จริง
ลำโพงคุณภาพสูงภายใต้ชื่อ XAV รุ่นที่อยู่ในยุคแรก ๆ ของการก่อตั้งบริษัทอย่าง Exocet , Dolphin, Baracuda, Orga, Spider ที่ถือเป็นลำโพงในตำนานไปแล้ว หรือตำนานที่ยังคงมีชื่อเสียงโด่งดังอยู่ในปัจจุบันอย่าง Small One ล้วนแล้วแต่ ได้รับการยอมรับจากกลุ่มนักเล่นนักฟัง ที่มีความพิถีพิถันในเนื้อแท้ของคุณภาพเสียง ที่สามารถยืนอายุในการตลาด ผลิตและจำหน่ายได้ยาวนานกว่า 20 ปี
ตลอดระยะเวลาที่ออดิโอ คอนซันแตนท์ ดำเนินงานได้ออกแบบและผลิตลำโพงไปรวมถึงอุปกรณ์ต่าง ๆ ไปมากกว่า 100 รายการ ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น ลำโพงของ XAV บางรุ่นยังได้รับการยอมรับจากต่างประเทศเช่น XAV Patriot ที่เป็นลำโพงที่ทำให้ชื่อเสียงของ XAV ได้เป็นที่รู้จักในวงกว้าง โดยได้ออกแบบและผลิตส่งให้ในลักษณะ OEM ซึ่งลำโพงรุ่นดังกล่าวกำลังได้รับการยอมรับจากนักเล่นเครื่องเสียงระดับออดิโอฟายล์ในอเมริกาและแคนาดา
นอกจากได้รับการยอมรับในฐานะที่เป็นบริษัทอันดับหนึ่งที่ผลิตลำโพงคุณภาพสูงในไทยแล้วออดิโอ คอนซัลแตนท์ยังเป็นรายแรกที่บุกเบิกและศึกษาอย่างถ่องแท้ถึงเรื่องสภาพอคูสติคส์ของห้องฟัง และเรื่องการจัดการกับการรบกวนในระบบไฟกระแสสลับจนมีผลิตภัณฑ์เกี่ยวกับทั้งสองเรื่องออกมามากมาย และได้รับความเชื่อถือจากผู้ที่นำไปใช้งานอย่างกว้างขวางและไลน์การผลิตล่าสุดคือ XAMP แอมป์ย้อนยุคที่ออกแบบมาสำหรับผู้ให้ที่ความสำคัญกับคุณภาพเสียงแบบสุดขั้ว ไม่สนใจลูกเล่น สิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกที่จะมาเป็นอุปสรรคต่อคุณภาพเสียง
อีกทั้งยังเป็นตัวแทนจำหน่ายอุปกรณ์เสริมในระบบเสียงภาพเช่น คะแปซิเตอร์ไฮเอ็นด์เกรดของ SCR จากฝรั่งเศส เครื่องเล่นแผ่นเสียง, ขั้วต่อลำโพง และอุปกรณ์เสริมของ Michell Engineering จากอังกฤษและสายสัญญาณ สายลำโพงคุณภาพสูงของ Vampire จากสหรัฐอเมริกา
จนกระทั้งในปี 2558 หลังจากที่ได้ดำเนินธุรกิจมาอย่างยาวนาน บริษัทได้มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงทีมงาน ปรับเปลี่ยนคู่ค้า พัฒนาการออกแบบ และบุคลากรด้านการจัดการเพิ่มเติม ออดิโอ คอนซันแตนท์ได้ จดทะเบียนบริษัทภายใต้ชื่อใหม่ในชื่อ “บริษัท เอ็กซ์เอวี ออดิโอ จำกัด” หลังจากนั้นคุณนพดล ได้เข้าสู่ตำแหน่งกึ่งเกษียณ และคุณมานพ ธรรมสิริอนันต์ ก็ได้เข้ามาเป็นผู้นำทีม
เข้าสู่เจนเนอร์เรชั่นใหม่ XAV Audio ก็ประสบความสำเร็จในทันทีด้วยการเปิดตัวลำโพง XAV eXpresso มันรวบรวม “Best Speaker under THB 50,000” as part of the Recommended Equipment of the Year 2016-2017 awards จากนิตยสาร Audiophile/Videophile ที่ได้รับการยกย่องอย่างกว้างขวาง ได้รับรางวัลเพิ่มเติมอื่น ๆ และมีบทความรีวิวเชิงบวกมากมาย จากสื่อและนิตยสารในวงการเครื่องเสียงไทย

XAV Audio History
The company’s beginnings can be traced back to an informal gathering of doctors, engineers, architects, and audio magazine columnists. They were brought together for their common passion for audio-more specifically, their enthusiasm for high-end, musically engaging audio.
They believed, with great optimism, that by applying their academic skills to the research, theory, and principles of loudspeaker design, their collective talents could produce an exceptional loudspeaker. The goal was to equal or exceed the high-end international speakers that were available at the time.
In 1982, the group began by importing speaker kits from KEF of England as a service for members of Audio Vision Magazine. (KEF was famously known in that era for manufacturing driver units for the BBC LS3/5A speaker systems.) The KEF speaker kits were well received and praised by audio connoisseurs. It fostered the group’s continued research and experimentation into driver designs for use within high-end loudspeaker systems.
After the initial work with the KEF units, the group quickly broadened its research base. They vigorously pursued research, development, and experimentation with drivers manufactured by Audax, Seas, Peerless, and Dynaudio. The rapidly expanding and valuable knowledge base led to proprietary modifications of existing designs and eventually to its own proprietary design project. The proprietary design project was published in articles in Audio Vision Magazine, Stereo Magazine, and the Semi Conductor Electronics Magazine. It was widely praised as a shining success in the domestic market.
As the speakers designed by this group grew in popularity, it became too overwhelming to maintain the project as a supplemental service to members of the three magazines. Thus, Audio Consultant Limited Partnership was officially formed in August 1984 under the leadership of Mr. Noppadon Boonbundan.
The Audio Consultants team continued research, development, and design on loudspeaker systems, and quietly began providing consulting services to the industry. They collaborated on the design of driver units for manufacturers producing high-end units for international brands including Davis Acoustics, Eton, Vifa, and Scan Speak; primarily advancing techniques to develop driver units with the appropriate parameters for high-end speakers.
The company began producing high-quality speakers under the brand name XAV; early designs with the highest accolades included the Exocet, Dolphin, Barracuda, Orga, and Spider loudspeaker systems. Another design
that still most famous today (perhaps reaching legendary status among the audiophile community in Thailand) was called the Small One. It was recognized for portraying the essence of natural sound reproduction with exceptional accuracy.
Over time, the company went on to design more than 100 loudspeakers, including the XAV Patriot, which made the XAV Audio famous. This was the first Thai model exported to the United States and Canada. Another very prominent model was the XAV Small One that sold for over twenty years.
Furthermore, XAV speaker designs began garnering recognition by international industry insiders. This led to the expansion and production of designs in various styles as OEM products for clients in the United States and Canada.
It was then recognized as the number one company producing high-end speakers in Thailand.
Audio Consultants also began pioneering studies into the acoustic listening environments typically found in consumer households. In particular, dealing with the disturbances found in AC power that can greatly affect audio quality, especially with Thailand’s unpredictable power grid. Dealing with these issues, eventually led to the production of various power-related products and cables. More recent research and design have to lead to the production of a new product called the XAMP. A retro designed amplifier focused on sound quality while avoiding unneeded features, bells, whistles, or gimmicks that tend to impede sound quality.
In addition to its own power products and speaker cables, the company is now also a distributor of audio and visual equipment, high-end electronic components from SCR of France, turntables, and accessories from Michell Engineering of the United Kingdom, and Vampire products of the United States.
In 2015, the company underwent a transition and renaissance of sorts, with additional partners, design, and management personnel. We have officially adopted the brand name and renamed the company, XAV Audio Company Limited. As Mr. Noppadon moved into semi-retirement, Mr. Manop Dhamsirianunt is now leading the team.
The new team has had immediate success with the launch of XAV eXpresso loudspeaker. It garnered the “Best Speaker under THB 50,000” as part of the Recommended Equipment of the Year 2016-2017 awards by the esteemed Audiophile/Videophile magazine, besting all international competition. It has received additional awards and positive reviews from the Thai audiophile market and publications.
