ลำโพง XAV eXpresso เกินความคาดหวัง
น้อยมาก ๆ ที่จะได้มีโอกาสทดสอบลำโพงระดับไฮไฟทำในเมืองไทย คงเป็นเพราะผู้ผลิตขาดความมั่นใจว่า จะสอบผ่าน “หู” ของนักวิจารณ์ไหม
จริง ๆ แล้วในแง่นักวิจารณ์คนไทยด้วยกัน ก็ย่อมส่งเสริมประคับประคองของไทยด้วยกันอยู่แล้ว ถ้าไม่ดีจริง ผู้ผลิตจะได้ทราบและเอากลับไปแก้ไขได้ถูกจุด ค่ายผู้ผลิตลำโพงและเครื่องเสียง XAV เก่าแก่อยู่ในบ้านเราน่าจะร่วม 30 ปีแล้ว* ถือว่ามากด้วยประสบการณ์และรู้ใจหูคนไทยที่สุด ย่อมได้เปรียบของนอกที่ทำเผื่อลากหลายหูจากหลากหลายประเทศ
EXPRESSO เป็นลำโพงวางหิ้ง 2 ทางตู้เปิด ท่อระบายอากาศจะเป็นรูกลมอยู่ด้านหลัง รูจะค่อนข้างเล็กกว่าปกติพอควร จนดูเหมือนว่าผู้ออกแบบจงใจให้ทุ้มลงลึกดุจตู้ปิด แต่ไม่อึดอัดโดยมีความเป็นตู้เปิดด้วยและก็ไม่ เปิดมาก (รูใหญ่) จนทุ้มบวม อื้ออึง แต่ไม่ลงลึก
ดอกลำโพงเสียงแหลมเป็นโดมนิ่มเคลือบแลคเกอร์เพิ่มมาเป็นพิเศษ โดยมีขนาด 28 มม. แม่เหล็กขนาดใหญ่มาก มีการจัดการกับแรงอัดอากาศด้านหลังโดม (Advanced Acoustic Air-Chamber หรือ AAA) โดยมีปลอกหุ้มแม่เหล็กที่ทำเป็นลอน ๆ โดยรอบ มีรูระบายด้านหลังตรงกลางด้านหน้า ดอกแหลม จงใจเซาะร่องไม้กลมรอบ ทำตัวเป็นฮอร์นกระจายเสียง (Wave-Guide)
ดอกลำโพงเสียงกลาง/ทุ้ม ออกแบบและทำให้ XAV โดยเฉพาะโดยกรวยขนาด 130 มม. ทำจากคาร์บอนไฟเบอร์ถักสานแล้วเคลือบด้วยยางสน ส่วนปิดกลางกรวย (Dust Cap) เป็นผ้าเคลือบพิเศษ ขอบยาง Neopreneชุดแม่เหล็กขนาดใหญ่(มาก) เกือบเท่ากรวย! มีรูระบายอากาศด้านหลังของแม่เหล็ก วงจรแบ่งเสียงใช้คอมพิวเตอร์คำนวณเพื่อการลงตัวดีที่สุดทั้งด้าน Phase (ความช้า-เร็วของ เสียงต่างความถี่) และระดับสัญญาณการตอบสนองความถี่ (ขั้วต่อรับสายลำโพงด้านหลังเป็นซิงเกิลไวร์) ใช้อุปกรณ์อย่างดี (Binding Post ขนาดใหญ่) นอกจากวัดทดสอบยังจูนด้วยการฟังจริง ๆ ด้วย ตัวเก็บประจุของ SCR (โพลีโพร-ไพลีน โลหะแบบตอบสนองฉับไว) ตัวต้านทานแบบพันมือของ SETA ตัวขดลวดแกนอากาศ เดินสายแบบรวมจุดดินแบบดาว (Star Ground) และขาอุปกรณ์, สายภายในบัดกรีถึงกันและกันตรง ไม่ใช้แผงวงจร
ตัวตู้ไม้หนา มีการดามภายในเต็มที่ลดการสั่น แผงหน้าตู้เสริมด้วยไม้หนาอีกชั้น หน้าตู้เอียงเพื่อให้ทุกความถี่เสียงมาถึงหูพร้อมกัน (Time Alignment) ขอบแผงหน้านี้ลบมุม ป้องกันมุมของขอบตู้สะท้อน เกิดจุดกำเนิดคลื่นใหม่กวน (Difraction)
แผ่น WOOD ของ Briant Bromberg เพลง 1 ขึ้นต้นด้วยการดีดดับเบิลเบสที่เป็นเส้นสายได้ไม่เลว มีเสียงนิ้วรูดสาย เสียงอิ่ม แน่นลงลึกใช้ได้ ยิ่งตอนเปียโน, กลองชุดขึ้น เสียงดับเบิลเบสอิ่ม ลงลึกระดับลำโพง 8 นิ้ว วางพื้นได้เลย เปียโนสดหวาน ฉาบเป็นตัวโชว์เส้นสายของหางม้าได้ดี อยากให้เวทีเสียงแผ่ลอยออกมากว่านี้อีกหน่อย คือ มันเป็นลำโพงขี้อายหน่อย ๆ ไม่ชอบกระเด็นหลุดลอยออกมามากนัก แม้กระนั้นก็ให้บรรยากาศได้ดี ฟังเพลินเพลง 2 เวทีเสียงกว้างดีมาก แต่เสียงโดยรวมจะตื้นเข้ามา (ลดความลึกลง) ให้ความกังวานได้ดีแบบติดไปทุกตัวชิ้นดนตรี ดับเบิลเบสลงลึกพอ ๆ กับเพลง 1 (ปกติควรอิ่มลึกกว่าอีกหน่อย) ช่วงโหมดนตรีทุกชิ้นก็ยังฟังแยกแยะว่าอะไรเป็นอะไรได้ดี เสียงโดยรวมตื่นตัว ฉับไว มีเนื้อหนัง เพลง 4 เขาบันทึกเล่นเฟส ถ่างเวทีเสียงกว้างและกระเด็นหลุดลอยมาถึงเรา แต่ละชิ้นดนตรีมีตัวตน ทรวดทรง น้ำหนักดี DYNAMIC CONTRAST (การไล่ลำดับอ่อน แก่ของเสียง) โดยรวมจะแคบไปนิด แต่ละชิ้นดนตรีบางครั้งจะฟังดังพอ ๆ กันไปหมดอยู่ในกรอบอันหนึ่งแต่ในอีกมุมหนึ่งมันก็ช่วยลดการโฉ่งฉ่างเกินไปกับบางแผ่น บางเพลงได้ดี บางคนบอกทำให้การฟังดิจิตอล เหมือนเป็นอะนาลอกมากขึ้น (ที่ DYNAMIC RANGE) ไม่กว้างเท่าดิจิตอล สรุปว่า กับแผ่นนี้ XAV สอบผ่านฉลุยน่าฟัง ใช้ได้เลยทีเดียว
แผ่น The Greatest Alto Female VOL.1 (Top Music) เพลง 1 เสียงไวโอลินขึ้นต้นยังไม่โฟกัสนักคล้ายปัญหา Phase ของดอกแหลมกับดอกกลางทุ้มยังไม่ลงตัวดีนัก (เหมือนเสียงดีดดับเบิลเบสแผ่น WOOD) อย่างไรก็ตาม ก็ให้เสียงร้องที่จีบปากจีบคอดี รายละเอียดดี เสียงลมหายใจเสียงลมรอดไรฟัน เสียงห่อปาก สั่นเครือทอดถอนริมฝีปากกระทบ เพลง 2 ขึ้นต้น เสียงร้องหมู่ชายหญิงที่แยกแยะ ตามด้วยเสียงตีกลองใหญ่ที่เสียงใหญ่เกินตัวมากแม้รูปลักษณ์ของกลองจะเป๋ไปมาบ้าง (ตามประสาลำโพงเล็กแค่นี้เอง) เสียงตีรับรู้ได้ แต่เสียงฮาร์โมนิกของกลองยังออกแบนแต่ก็ลงได้ลึก ดูจากรูระบายอากาศกลมเล็ก ๆ ด้านหลัง พอจับได้ว่าผู้ออกแบบอยากให้ทุ้มลงลึกมากกว่าทุ้มที่อ้วนเป็น “ลูก ๆ” เพลง 3 เสียงดีดกีตาร์ขึ้นต้น พอรู้ว่าเป็นเส้นสายแต่ไม่จะแจ้งชัดเจนเหมือนที่ควรเสียงร้องที่สอดใส่อารมณ์, ความรู้สึก, อากัปกริยาได้ดี เกินคาดกับลำโพงราคาขนาดนี้ เพลง 5 ขึ้นต้น ด้วยเสียงกรุ้งกริ้งของปลายแหลมที่สดใส มีรายละเอียด เกลี้ยง สะอาด โฟกัส มีอากาศแตกตัวรอบ ๆ ตัวโน้ต ประมาณได้ว่า ปลายแหลมสุดน่าจะไปได้ถึง 25 kHz สบาย ๆ เสียงร้องที่สอดใส่จิตวิญญาณอารมณ์ ชวนติดตามเหมือนเดิม เครื่องสายที่ดีด, สีหวานละเมียด ทุ้มที่กระชับแน่นลึก เพลง 7 เสียงสีไวโอลินเดี่ยวขึ้นต้น เสียงสมจริงดีเอามาก ๆ แสดงว่าคนจูนเสียงทำมาได้เนี้ยบ และใช้ดอกลำโพงคุณภาพสูง เมื่อเสียงไวโอลินจบลง เสียงทั้งวงก็เริ่มต้นโดยแผ่กว้างออกมาถึงตัวเราน่าสนใจมาก การเดินเสียงทุ้ม ก็ทำได้ดี ไม่ตูม ๆ หนัก ๆ แต่ก็มีรายละเอียดลงลึกน่าฟัง
แผ่นระนาดเอก (ไทลำภู) เป็นเสียงระนาดซึ่ง XAV ก็จำแนก แจกแจงแต่ละเสียงได้ดี ออกสด ตื่นตัวรายละเอียดใช้ได้ เวทีกว้าง ความกังวานดี น้ำหนักเสียงดี ความถี่ราบรื่น อย่างไรก็ตาม มันก็ให้กลองทุ้มกับต้นเพลง 8 ได้แค่พอประมาณไม่ขนาดยิ่งใหญ่อะไรเช่นเคย เหมือนกับว่าทุก ๆ เสียงจะดังพอ ๆ กันหมดที่ระดับหนึ่ง แต่ไม่หมายความว่ามันอั้นหรือตื้อ (อย่าเข้าใจผิด) มันให้อะไร ๆ ชัดเจนแยกแยะได้ดีไม่กลบมั่ว แต่ทั้งหมดยังมีโทนเสียงออกไปในกรอบอันหนึ่งไม่หลากหลายนัก (ค่าความเพี้ยน THD ต่ำใช้ได้แต่ค่าความเพี้ยน IMD แม้ไม่สูงแต่ก็ยังไม่ต่ำในระดับลำโพงไฮเอนด์แพง ๆ) น่าแปลกที่เพลง 10 เกิดอาการเสียงแถว ๆ 800 Hz จะโด่งนิด ๆ เป็นบริเวณ กว้าง ๆ แต่การฟังกับเพลงโดยทั่วไปอาจแทบไม่สังเกต
ลองเอามาดูหนัง
ด้วยแผ่นบลู-เรย์ SAN ANDREAS ร่องพากย์ไทย ปล่อยเสียงจาก OPPO ที่ LT, RT ฟังด้วยลำโพง XAV คู่เดียว เช็ค Absolute Phase ถูกต้อง (ให้ลำโพงขยับดันอากาศออกมา)
XAV ให้เสียงที่ออกสดจริงจัง ถึงลูกถึงคน กระชับฉับไว เสียงตึกถล่ม พื้นยุบ ถล่มลงมาจากเพดานห้อง เสียงเขื่อนปริแตก เสียงน้ำ (สึนามิ) ทะลักกระแทกกระจกแตกล้นเข้ามาในตึก เสียง ฮ.บินข้ามหัวไปมาหนีตึกถล่มรอบด้าน ฯลฯ พูดง่าย ๆ เหมือนฟังชุดโฮมเธียเตอร์เต็มขั้น แถมซับขนาดกลาง 1 ตู้ และไม่ต้องมีการถอด Dolby ATMOS ใด ๆ ด้วย (แผ่นนี้บันทึก Dolby ATMOS) ก็ได้เสียง 360 องศาแล้ว! กับ DVD เรื่อง THE CORE แผนกู้โลกก็ ให้ดุจเสียงรอบทิศได้ดีเช่นกัน
สรุป
เป็นผลงานลำโพงยี่ห้อ XAV Audio จากค่าย Audio Consultant** ที่น่าชื่นชมอีกรุ่นการได้ฟัง ได้สัมผัสบ่งบอกว่า บริษัทฯ ตั้งใจทำมาอย่างเต็มที่เป็นพิเศษ ไม่ว่าการกล้าใช้ดอกลำโพงคุณภาพสูงที่มีใช้กัน แต่กับลำโพงนอกระดับเฉียดแสนบาทเท่านั้น อีกทั้งตัวตู้ก็แน่นหนา สวยงาม
ด้านคุณภาพเสียงจุดเด่นคือให้ความเป็นดนตรีได้ดีน่าฟัง ฟังเพลิน แทรกกลิ่นอายของลำโพงนอกระดับไฮเอนด์ออกมาบ่อย ๆ จนต้องถามตัวเองว่านี้ลำโพงไทย มันให้เวทีเสียงได้โอ่อ่า กว้างขวางดี ความกังวานดี บรรยากาศที่ชวนติดตาม ลำโพงล่องหนได้ดีมาก
นานเหลือเกินที่ไม่มีโอกาสได้ฟังลำโพงไทยเสียงไฮเอนด์ อยากให้ลองหาเวลา, โอกาสไปทดสอบฟังดูสักครั้งก่อนตัดสินใจซื้อ

ลำโพงไทยเหรอ…ไม่ละขอบคุณ เคยได้ยินคำนี้บ่อย ซึ่งเราจะไปตีตราโทษานุโทษคนเล่น เครื่องเสียงคงลำบาก เพราะคนซื้อคนเล่น “ติดแบบว่าแค้นกันฝังหุ่นไป” แล้ว จะไปสู้ของนอกได้อย่างไร ยิ่งหน้าตาประหลาดหน้าหักหน้างอ หน้าเอียง ยิ่งยากเข้าไปอีก และราคาพอตั้งใกล้เคียงของนอก ก็ต้องบอกในใจว่าไป๊ไป จะไปแอ่วที่ไหนก็ไป มันเป็นซะงั้น แถมถ้ามีนักทดสอบเมืองไทยไปวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ตั้งต้นไว้เลย พวกนี้ช่วยกันอีก เอาเข้าไป
คือเมื่อก่อนผมยอมรับนะว่าไม่เข้าใจมาก ๆ พอมาเห็นตลาดเครื่องเสียงในความเป็นจริง ก็ต้องยอมละครับ คนซื้อคิดแบบบันไดหลายขั้น พอจะซื้อก็คิดไว้ก่อน เมื่อเปลี่ยน เทรด ได้ไหม ราคาเหลือเท่าไร นี่เรียกว่าคิดซื้อมาเพื่อขายต่อ เล่นนั้นคือกำไรหรือขาดทุนว่ากันไป คนที่เล่นของไทย จึงต้องใจถึงแต่แรก และไม่สนเรื่องชาติเรื่องภาษาคนผลิต ถามในใจว่าดีหรือเปล่า พอแล้ว
คนเหล่านี้มีสักสิบเปอร์เซ็นต์ของตลาดก็นับว่าบุญโขละครับ ความจริงเป็นเช่นนี้
หลังจากบริษัทมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงโครงสร้าง (เขาบอกมาว่างั้น) ของทาง XAV ผมก็ตาม ๆ ดูไปเรื่อย ๆ ว่าจะมีผลงานอะไรออกมาใหม่บ้าง ก็ได้เห็นความตั้งใจ มากมายเหมือนกัน ส่วนจะเป็นที่ยอมรับกันสักแค่ไหน กาลเวลาคงเป็นผู้พิสูจน์เอง เพราะ XAV Audio ก็ไม่ได้ ตั้งใจว่าจะทำของราคาถูกผูกมิตรชาวบ้านออกมา แต่อยากให้ผู้ใช้งานได้ของที่ดีจริง ๆ มีคุณภาพเทียบเคียงสินค้าใครก็ได้ในโลกใบนี้ ซึ่งเป็นไปไม่ได้ที่จะลดต้นทุนลงมาต่ำ ๆ
ลำโพงที่ดูว่าราคาพอที่จะเดินหน้าได้อย่างเต็มที่ เห็นว่ามอนิเตอร์สปีกเกอร์อย่ำง XAV eXpresso ที่เขาบอกมาว่าแตกต่างจากลำโพงระดับราคา “Entry Level” อื่น ๆ อย่างสิ้นเชิง จากข้อมูลของผู้ออกแบบ กล่าวว่า ได้นำคอนเซปต์ ของการออกแบบลำโพงมอนิเตอร์ระดับไฮเอนด์มาใช้ เพื่อดุลน้ำเสียงที่เป็นกลาง มีความโปร่งใส เปิดเผย กระจ่างชัด เหมือนลำโพงมอนิเตอร์ชั้นเยี่ยมที่ใช้อยู่ในห้องบันทึกเสียง
ก็ต้องมาดูกัน เพราะผมยอมรับว่าเป็นลำโพงที่น่าสนใจ แต่เลือกแอมป์จนรู้สึกเกือบท้อใจเหมือนกัน ว่าเจ้า XAV eXpresso จะไปสิ้นสุดที่แอมป์เครื่องไหน หรือแนวเสียงอย่างไร ถึงจะกอดคอเดินไปด้วยกันได้ พื้นฐานลำโพงแบบสองทางใช้แผงหน้าลาดเอียงเพื่อจัด Time Alignment ของไดรเวอร์ทั้ง 2 ตัว ตัวขับเบส/มิดเรนจ์ขนาด 130 มม. แบบ Woven Carbon Fiber เส้นใยที่มีีน้ำหนักเบาและมีความแข็งแรง กรวยเคลือบ ผิวหน้าด้วย Resin ที่มีความนุ่มเหนียวเป็นพิเศษ
ทวีตเตอร์โดมขนาด 28 มม. โดมขึ้นรูปจากผ้าไหม เคลือบแล็กเกอร์ ทำแบบนี้เพื่อการขจัดเสียงแปลกปลอมที่เกิดจากการเบรก-อัพของโดม ให้ความถี่สูง ให้มีความสดใส มีความกังวานของปลาย หางเสียงที่ดี ห้องอากาศหลังโดมทวีตเตอร์ชนิด AAA (Advanced Acoustic Air-chamber) ป้องกันเสียงกร้าวในช่วงความถี่สูง
ส่วนวงจรตัดแบ่งความถี่ผู้ผลิตได้ให้ข้อมูลว่าเป็นแบบ Computer Optimized For Integrity Phase/Flat Amplitude Response ออกแบบโดยใช้คอมพิวเตอร์คำนวณอย่างดี ตอบสนองความถี่ บริเวณจุดตัดแบ่งความถี่ได้ราบเรียบ และมีเฟสของสัญญาณเสียงที่ต่อเนื่องกัน ทำให้การทำงานตัวขับเสียงราบรื่น อุปกรณ์ในวงจรตัดแบ่งความถี่ใช้คอยล์แกนอากาศลวดทองแดงความบริสุทธิ์สูงจากเยอรมนี คาปาซิเตอร์ Fast Metalized Polypropylene และรีซิสเตอร์ Virtreous Wire Wound จากฝรั่งเศส
XAV eXpresso ตอบสนองความถี่ 65-22,000 Hz อิมพีแดนซ์ 8 โอห์ม ความไว 87 ดีบี/2.83 โวลต์ ที่ระยะ 1 เมตร มิติตัวตู้ 170 x 300 x 260 (210) มม. (กว้าง x สูง x ลึก)
ผลการทดสอบ
ผมได้พยายามเบิร์นไว้เรื่อย ๆ ด้วยการเปิดเสียงจากเครื่องเล่นซีดี วนไปมาในแต่ละวันที่ผ่านไป และมีการเปลี่ยนสายลำโพงและแอมป์ที่คาดว่าจะเข้ากับลำโพงคู่จิ๋วคู่นี้ได้ เป็นประสบกำรณ์คล้ายตอนที่ผมทดลองเล่น LS 3/5a กับ ProAc One SC และ TOTEM ONE เป็นลำโพงที่เกี่ยงงอน แอมปลิไฟร์อย่างเห็นได้ชัด เช่นกัน คุณจะว่ามันเป็นข้อเสียหรือข้อดี นั่นก็แล้วแต่เราจะพิจารณา
ในแง่นั้นอาจจะเพราะลำโพงมีความเที่ยงตรงสูง ไม่ประนีประนอมง่ายนัก ในการหาแอมป์ในระดับที่จี่ะเล่นกับมันได้ กลายเป็นว่าค่าตัวของแอมป์ อาจจะเกินลำโพงมากไปก็เป็นได้ แต่หากพยายามค้นหาไปเรื่อย ๆ คุณอาจจะพบแอมปลิไฟร์ราคาย่อม ๆ ที่เข้าคู่กันได้ดีก็มีครับ ไม่ใช่ว่าจะหาไม่ได้เสียเลย เวลาในการแมตช์แอมป์ของผม นับว่านานนับเดือนกว่าจะปลงใจว่า เครื่องไหนที่เหมาะกับ XAV eXpresso
แอมปลิไฟร์ที่ออกแบบภาคจ่ายไฟให้อัตราสวิงได้สูง ๆ จะดีที่สุดครับ อันนี้คือคำจำกัดความสั้นที่สุดที่ผมสามารถแนะนำได้ และแอมปลิไฟร์ระดับยักษ์อย่าง Mark Levinson No.585 อาจจะเหมือนว่าสูงไป แต่จริง ๆ มันสามารถขับ eXpresso และลำโพงขับเสียงยาก ๆ ได้ไม่เหลือหรอ ผมทดลองใช้ NAD M2 ก็นับว่าควบคุมบังคับบัญชากันได้ราบรื่นดีมาก แต่ที่น่าแปลกใจ คือแอมปลิไฟร์ขนาดย่อม ตัวเล็ก กลับมีสองสามเครื่องที่ใช้งานกับลำโพงคู่นี้ดีมากเช่นกัน
Creek 5350SE ที่ผมเก็บเข้ากรุไว้นานนั่นละหนึ่งเครื่องแล้วที่นำมาขับ XAV eXpresso แปลกดีครับ ไปกันได้ราบรื่นมาก อีกเครื่องหนึ่งเป็นแอมป์หลอดที่เป็นขวัญใจคนยุคใหม่ คือ Octave Audio V40SE และ Exposure 2010S2 ที่ผมว่าเหมาะที่สุดที่เราได้ลองนำมาสลับสับเปลี่ยน กับแอมป์ระดับไฮเอนด์ขนาดยักษ์ใหญ่
ใครได้ลำโพงคู่นี้ไป เรื่องแรกที่ต้องพิจารณา คือการหาแอมป์นั่นแหละครับ ต้องยอมรับว่าลำโพงแนวเสียงเที่ยงตรงมอนิเตอร์ จำเป็นต้องหาแอมป์ที่เหมาะสมครับ และนี่เป็นเพียงแค่ตัวอย่างเท่านั้น ไม่จำเป็นว่าจะต้องเหมือนกับสิ่งที่ผมนำเสนอก็ได้ บางคนอาจจะค้นพบ แอมปลิไฟร์ที่เหมาะกับ eXpresso ก็ได้

ไม่ต้องร่ายยาวกันแล้วละครับ มาอยู่ที่บทสรุปกันเลยดีกว่า เพื่อให้ทันใจผู้อ่านว่าหนึ่งเดือนกว่ากับการขลุกอยู่กับ XAV eXpresso ผมได้อะไรมาฝาก
และความเห็นผมอาจจะไม่ได้เหมือนนักทดสอบท่านอื่นในบางประเด็น หรือคล้ายกันบ้างก็เป็นได้ เพราะซอร์ซ และชุดเครื่องเสียง เราต่างกัน ห้องฟังก็ต่างกัน แต่คงไม่ได้หลุดออกไปจากคำชมที่ว่า เสียงดีทีเดียวครับ แม่นยำและให้เสียงกลมกลืนมาก ในแต่ละย่านความถี่ แม้จะลงเสียงต่ำได้ไม่ลึกนักก็ตาม คือหากเล่นเพลงคลาสสิก มันจะขาดเสียงลึกมาก ๆ ไป แต่ก็ถือว่าระดับดนตรีไม่มากชิ้น ฟังคลาสสิก ได้อารมณ์มาก
สำหรับคนชอบเพลงร้องแบบเน้นๆ ต้องยอมรับว่า XAV eXpresso ทำได้ดีเกินคาด ต่อให้เป็นลำโพงเสียงเที่ยงตรงแบบมอนิเตอร์แต่ก็มีเสน่ห์มาก ในการฟังเพลงร้อง เรียกว่าเพลงป้อป เพลงไทย เพลงแนวร้อง แบบออดิโอไฟล์ ทำได้ชนิดเคียงใกล้ลำโพงราคาแสนได้แน่นอน ดังนั้น หากต้องการเสียงแม่นยำ เวทีเสียงกว้างลึก เป็นชั้นเชิง ฟังแล้วรู้สึกสัมผัสความจริงของดนตรี ศิลปินนักร้อง เชื่อได้เลยว่า XAV eXpresso เป็นลำโพงที่น่าจะเหมาะที่สุด
ยิ่งในตอนที่ผมหันมาเล่นเทิร์นเทเบิล AR ตัวโปรด กับ Linn Majik กับเพลงนักร้องคันทรีอย่าง วิลลี่ เนลสัน และ เคนนี่ โรเจอร์ส ต้องร้องว่า…ว้าวเลยครับ เป็นเสียงร้องที่เต็ม ๆ เนื้อ ๆ และลงถึงลำคอได้อย่างราบรื่นน่าฟังมาก มันเหมือนตอนที่เราไปควบคุมการบันทึกเพลงในห้อง บันทึกเสียง รับรู้ว่าทุกเม็ดของเสียงได้มาหมดไม่เหลือจริง ๆ นั่นละข้อดีของลำโพงมอนิเตอร์สปีกเกอร์
ผมตั้งลำโพงห่างกันในระยะที่พอดีกับการฟัง คือ ห่างกันราว 2.4 เมตร ตรงนี้ในห้องฟังของเราได้อิมเมจ ซาวนด์สเตจแม่นมาก ๆ
ข้อแนะนำคือ คุณต้องลืมว่ากำลังมองหาลำโพง มาเป็นการแสวงหาเสียงดนตรีจริง ๆ ต้องลืมว่ามันเป็นลำโพงฝีมือคนไทยหรือเมืองนอก ต้องลืมว่าตัวเองมีอคติแบบใด อย่างไร เพราะ XAV eXpresso จะให้คุณได้คือ เสียงคุณภาพที่แท้จริงเท่านั้น บางทีสิ่งงดงามที่สุด อยู่ที่เรา รักเสียงที่ได้ยิน ไม่ใช่แบรนด์ หรือความเชื่อผู้อื่นอีกต่อไป

XAV eXpresso musical enjoyment redefined
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” (Albert Einstein)
Einstein got the “balance”, and I must applaud those who understand and follow his statement. For a long time, I have respected and studied both the thought and theory of this great scientist; indeed, it has been as long as the time since I first realized I am “addicted to coffee.” Hmm, so how is the ‘balance’ of coffee? Is it the same kind of balance of the numbers derived from the world-renowned theory of Einstein? Can we adapt that balance to our daily life, or even in our choices in audio and music?
Thinking of an ideal speaker, what kind of style of sound you would like it to be? My personal choice: I like “a balanced sound” because balance creates the midrange tones. Speakers with a balanced midrange sound precise, detailed, and open, which are three qualities that almost every listener desires to hear. This balanced sound has been created and realized by a Thai manufacturer that is very serious about good speaker design. The slogan they have used with their latest speaker model is: “true musical eXperience”. It is a mini monitor, designed to be different from any other entry-level speaker. It provides immediate results. Just sit down and listen. The atmosphere & substance you experience is not that different from a sip of a real (deep dark) strong espresso!
Very interesting and inviting for this small cup… ur… pair of eXpresso loudspeakers. But wait, did I call it a mini-monitor? Yes!! XAV incorporated high-end speaker design principles into this model, and therefore the complete sound and technical details are distinctive from almost any entry-level speaker.
ES meet EX
I became addicted to coffee 20 years ago. It started from Latte, or coffee with milk; later it changed to non-dairy creamer instead of milk, with an added bit of sugar. I enjoyed that style for many years. Then, I tried Americano: black coffee no milk, no sugar, but lots of water to fill up the mug. I would sip slowly throughout a half-day (keep sipping and working till it gets cold).
I started to manage the balance (of my wallet) by reducing the ingredients down to just coffee. Thus, I began to drink espresso “strong black coffee + a little water” and have continued drinking it to this day (no cappuccino because of too much milk).
That is the balance of my black coffee story. It has spread seamlessly to my enjoyment of music, choice of audio equipment, and even my audio equipment reviews. Try to use and understand something until it becomes part of your life until we become confident that it functions with everything around you…..Is this not different from the sound of the speaker in front of you? Regardless of how it was positioned and set up, eventually, it will reveal its true (pleasing?) self.
“A good speaker does not need to strive nor to seek in order to receive…” There are many good speakers. However, speakers for people focused on detail and awake at attention, there are not many. Like great tasting coffee, a calm yet sophisticated, but unpretentious barista is required for the formulation. Temperament is one of the technical factors of note for good speaker designers and for baristas.
Listening to music can create moods. Listening to good speakers creates a mood. With one shot of coffee, we can tell the mood of the barista who makes it (strong or not, all deduced from just one shot!).
I received this “One shot or eXpresso” speaker—on their latest speaker stand—from the barista/speaker maker, which has long been respected and well-received in our audio industry for their unique blend and taste in sound. That is, from Audio Consultants; as a designer, manufacturer, and seller of audio under the brand XAV, XAMP, X-WIRE, EMX, PACK, etc. They also provide expert custom services in listening room design, tuning, and equipment installation, all with great audio acoustics as the goal.
Today the name has been changed to “XAV AUDIO” following the well-established and reputable brand name. I think it’s easy to remember. Just say the name and it is recognized.
“Envision+Ruminate+Reiterate+Implement” is the theme for designing and manufacturing the XAV speaker, a speaker that is suitable for listening regardless of the characteristics of the listening room. Their target is a speaker that delivers true musical sound, creating the sensation of listening to real music, playing directly in front of you.

Real Thing + Still Sound

Please note that most XAV speaker models have not been tuned toward one style or another which would favor specific preferences or characteristics of listening. Instead, XAV has made speakers that provide balanced sound to promote musical engagement, easy setup, and matching with many different systems.
Kudos to “Khun Noppadol Boonbundaan”, the owner of the idea!
The memory and impression I have of XAV Prime 6S are still clear in my ears. Recalling well-defined sound and confident rhythm that filled the room during the review, XAV has not deviated from the nickname the manufacturer gave them, i.e. “speakers for the brave”. The same goes for another model, Ella & Louis, that provided a fresh (live) musical atmosphere that filled the room like a jazz standard club at its peak.
Again this time, I am very excited, no different from when I reviewed the 6S and listened to Ella & Louis. This time I have the opportunity to “listen + analyze + let go (be free)” of a two-way speaker + slanted front baffle + strong sound as if drinking just one shot of coffee with a little water (if you prepare it real strong, I am willing to respond to that strength).
Well, the bitterness (Tannin) of black coffee is familiar to my tongue, which is no different than the fresh, clarity of familiar music to my ears. After listening, I can tell that it is a live player, real with no artificial effects.
Khun Noppadol still employs a “speaker sound that emulates real musical sound,” by emphasizing each type and each musical instrument within an ensemble of many pieces. However, the fine-tuning of the eXpresso has reduced the tautness of real musical sound down a notch from the Prime 6S and Prime 6 ISO; consequently, the eXpresso is easy to listen to, easy to approach, and “results in a transparent sound, open, and with clarity.”
Even if I am not a listener with golden ears—the pair I received for review had already gone through run-in—this enabled me to understand the real characteristic of the speaker without delay. A new speaker from a newly opened box from XAV usually requires some run-in time for harshness at the tail end of bass and the end of treble to relax and finally dissipate. For someone with less patience, I recommend Tellurium Q Cable and System Preparation / Refresh CD. I did one round with this cd before the review.

Proper in every sense, yet Catchy

To create a truly musical sound is the first priority for XAV, and receives special attention prior to designing other aspects of the speaker.
The eXpresso is a 2-way speaker. The tweeter located above the mid-woofer, working as a semi-open box, closed box. Because there is a port, some lower frequencies are released via the tube at the back (at only 3 cm). This helps to gently release air (bass) outside the boxes, assisting in the attack and decay which continually envelops the presentation and enhances the dimensionality of the sound.
The front installed cone-based midrange is 130mm, formed from Woven Carbon Fiber; one of the lightest and strongest woven fibers, so as to deliver precise detail in accordance with the original recorded material. The front of the cone is also coated with a soft and resilient resin to reduce the harshness and brittleness of the fiber. This results in a midrange sound that is clean and soft, as it should be.
The dome is 28mm. “Formed from a special lacquer-coated silk” to eliminate any interference that could occur from a break-up of the diaphragm, giving a high frequency that is full of harmonics, clarity of sound, and lifelike decay, for a very musical sound.
Anybody who wants to hear the differences between the attack and decay of acoustic versus electronic sounds, please audition “Better Together” from Jack Johnson and Ode To A Kudu (alt. take) of George Benson/Columbia Jazz Profile with the eXpresso. You will clearly identify the differences between both pleasurable sounds of these very divergent styles.
In the tweeter dome, there is a still air chamber at the back, i.e. “Advanced Acoustic Air Chamber,” to prevent any harsh high frequencies which might emanate from the low-frequency resonance of the tweeter. It also has an “Optimal Dispersion Wave-guide” to help smoothly blend the crossover frequency where the dome takes over from bass and midrange.
The port tube is 3 cm and retracted inside, therefore the design of the eXpresso is bass-reflex. There is strong bracing inside the frame. The slanted front face is quite eye-catching. The position of the dome is slightly withdrawn into the box to achieve “Time Alignment”—that is, to ensure the sound waves from both drivers travel in sync—leading to a smooth, seamless, cohesive sound. Therefore, bestowing an excellent image and deep sound-stage that extends freely from the box. This can be considered the strongest selling feature of this model.
At this point, the speaker sounds loud and clear because, after the 10th hour, I started watching it with my personal favorite audio system: tube pre-amp Viola Audio TL1SE MK3 + single-ended Tube SE3 + CD player YBA CD100. Signal Cable and Speaker Cable Tellurium Q Ultra Blue/Blue; Canare GS4. Power from Viola Isolation Transformer; AC Monster PowerLine300; Supra LoRad; VanDamn etc.
In the first few hours of listening, although the speaker has already undergone a run-in, getting to know the speaker is a necessity. I put them on a solid wooden stand without sloping since the front face already slopes (the speaker stand provided by XAV for this model is also wooden). Driven by an integrated amp Onix OA30 (my upgraded) + YBA CD100. The initial sound has bass, mid-tones, and treble that are familiar to my ears. It is a musical sound that is clear, open and has every molecule of atmosphere that can identify all dimensions, surprisingly flowing freely after bursting through the front panel. It is a speaker that is easy to drive even though it has a rated sensitivity of 87db. Provided it is partnered with the right amp, that is enough.
My familiarity with music comes from listening to real live performances, and from music played through monitor speakers in a testing room. I have many pairs of both passive and active monitor speakers. In particular, the Yamaha NS-10M, the most widely used in recording studios throughout the world; therefore, it was used as the primary comparison speaker for evaluating the precision.
The eXpresso delivers a sound that consists of the main body of a note and trailing harmonics that accentuate and deliver the full atmosphere of sound. There are harmonics apparent on the NS-10M that are apparent on eXpresso too. It is the harmonics that demonstrate a neutral “Sound Balance with no bias one way or another.” This is a characteristic of a monitor speaker that delivers complete detail and clarity in every frequency, which connects the emotions, atmosphere, soul, and spirit of music that naturally exists in every frequency.
Try listening to the interplay of four saxophones talking to each other in “The Sax Talk” from the Artvark Saxophone Quartet/Truffled (HITMAN). The blowing style of the saxophone is also fresh and juicy in accordance with each different saxophone style in Groove Soul Jazz. In the music of Children’s Song by Chick Corea and Whoza Mtwanna of Abdullah Ibrahim, which has been freshly pressed, sounds are precisely positioned, spreading throughout with weight and with three-dimensional imaging by the eXpresso loudspeakers.
Try turning up the volume, and you’ll find no difference from having a saxophone playing in the room! More importantly, I can truly feel “the emotions as they emanate from the improvisation and blowing techniques of the four musicians.” It was very visceral without having to watch attentively at the stage. Usually, the sax quartet is considered quite difficult to listen to. Any pair of speakers that is not accurate when expressing the sound, will become very boring, no dimension nor spirit of the music arises. But…the eXpresso is not like that. And that stunned me. It was remarkably impressive.
Every song in “A Tribute To The Greatest King of Jazz” by John di Martino Vol. 2 (HITMAN) is the also impressive. I recommend it as a must-listen with this pair of speakers. If you have a Vol.1, then try a comparison. The second recording emphasizes layers, positioning, and the emotions of the song, which is portrayed very accurately.
The most astonishing to the ear is that “it is a small speaker that exudes resplendent sound just like a large speaker.” It equalizes tonal balance to create a soundstage with dimension and atmosphere, propelling each individual musical instrument until the box and walls of the room entirely disappear! They can be called “Invisible Speakers” without any hesitation.
I admit that every time I listened to it, I was happy, glowing bright, and never discovered any annoyance in any frequency. Oh, for those who enjoy a light tone, emphasizing the midrange, with pleasurable treble, and bass that does not smear and interfere with the midrange, then I recommend this speaker. The percussion is realistic, quick, clear, and extends similarly to the woodwind instruments, both brass, and metal (the lowest frequency goes to 65Hz, the frequency of kick drum sound).
Inside this speaker, the manufacturer employs polypropylene capacitors, Fast metalized types from Solen-SCR; wire wound resistors from Seta; air-coil inductors, and point-to-point wiring (star-ground). This is the source of the resplendent, healthy sound. Achieving exceptional tonal balance in the midrange and lower-midrange, again to emphasize the vivid sound and atmosphere, makes the eXpresso different from other speakers of similar specifications and price.
If you play any musical instrument and can understand notes, then I challenge you to listen; auditioning the eXpresso is a must. The resplendent sound in the style of a monitor speaker, that has been tuned and adjusted with proficiency, with discerning components, and intense tuning based on auditioning by experts, is waiting for you.
Those who enjoy listening to line guitar and the analog recordings of Jack Johnson must listen with this pair of speakers. You can touch the deep sound stage that extends far into the walls until they simply disappear. You hear the decay, the space between notes, pace, rhythm and timing, every detail that happens during recording (from “Sleep to the Static” / Brushfire). Any well-recorded album whether audiophile or not, the eXpresso readily gushes with details. Regardless of whether you purposely listen for it, the sound will always maintain its position, weight, atmosphere, rhythm, and emotion (at all times).
A speaker stands that gives a smooth sound i.e. wooden stand or High Mass Metal is suitable with this speaker model (light metal will invariably increase the vibrancy of the treble). The height I used while reviewing was 28” high plus spikes. I was sitting on a wooden, reasonable height chair, ears level with the tweeter dome. I hear the perfect sound stage and dimension. Speakers were set 169cm apart, 185cm from the back wall. Speakers directed straight forward and angled with toe-in (the angle relative to the listening position has an effect on the size of sound stage, airiness of atmosphere, and the quantity and clarity of the sound dimension. The more meticulous the setup, the more realism is achieved.
Worth trying a SHOT…
For all the reasons stated above, the conclusion becomes, the “eXpresso is a small speaker to begin listening attentively to audio, step by step.” Even appropriate for those who prefer listening more to the music than to the player. While there is a ratio of those whose emphasis is placed on audiophile listening versus a music lover, say 60:50, I believe that in the future, there will be more and more in the first group. This as people continue to embrace High-res music, and with increasing lifestyles in more compact housing/accommodation, which is also more convenient.
So, a small speaker, easy set-up, good sound, accurate/precise with no compromises is quite an advantage. If you are an experienced listener looking for a speaker with a different sound than countless other speakers, this is your eXchance from XAV-Audio: eXpresso. He has black skin (not Veneer) and wooden skin to choose from. As for the sound, according to the above, again the short conclusion is “Great Shot of Speaker, Complete Sound, Balanced and Smooth XAV-Audio: eXpresso” It’s worth trying a SHOT.

ลำโพงเล็ก เซ็ตง่าย เสียงดี เที่ยงตรง ไม่อ่อนข้อต่อเสียงเพี้ยน จึงได้เปรียบอย่างยิ่ง ถ้าคุณเป็นนักฟังมีประสบการณ์ เล็งลำโพงที่มีเนื้อเสียงต่างจากลำโพงดาษดื่น งานนี้คือโอกาสขั้น eX ของคุณสำหรับ XAV Audio – eXpresso ล่ะครับ เขามีผิวสีดำ(ไม่ใช่ไม้วิเนียร์)กับผิวไม้ให้เลือกด้วย ส่วนน้ำเสียงนั้น ตามที่กล่าวมาแล้วข้างต้น
